Ready to live here!

We’ve taken a full week to unpack, move furniture around, organize and reorganize all our stuff, take several loads back to storage, and dropped off stuff at Goodwill. Some of our rooms are fully ready to live in and enjoy; others still need work. We have a loveseat being delivered in a week and a half, and our dining room table is still being made but other than that, we’ve got all our stuff in place! Here’s a few images of the rooms that are mostly done.

Special Project by Trista

Our niece, Trista, does amazing things with a Cricut machine and has lots of special wordings and sayings in her own home. I knew I wanted something different for the transom window over the door to our deck, so I asked her to do a special project for us. I absolutely love how this turned out!

Moving Day

We had a great day for our move to Brown Hill Road! Started just after 9, and the last load was emptied from the trucks at 5pm. Still tons left to do, but we, and all our stuff, are finally in one place! The pictures don’t do the amount of stuff we moved justice — 2 loads on the Uhaul, 3 loads on 2 other trucks and a trailer! Had a great crew to help, though. Now to unpack…

House Completed!

Our new house passed Occupancy Inspection on Monday and is finally officially ours to move into!!! We immediately packed some clothes, toiletries, grabbed our mattress out of storage and moved in!!! The cleaners came through last weekend, but it still needs a lot of TLC — dust is still settling, and we are tracking more in. Big move this coming weekend! Here are a few shots of the completed rooms:

Yard Work

That title speaks for itself — this yard will be work! Living in the trees means no lush golf course greens here! But with some TLC and lots of seed, fertilizer and water when needed, we might actually see some grass. The yard crew gave our yard a good grading to break it all up and make it level, topped it off with nice top soil, spread seed and straw and we’re hoping something comes up!

Gutters & much more

So many finishing touches this week! Gutters installed, appliances installed, stair treads installed, shower glass installed! I didn’t get a picture of it, but the stairwell landings have flooring as well. What’s left? The garage door opener needs to be installed, and they’re supposed to fix the dented panel. The thermostat needs to be programmable so that will be swapped out. The glass wall upstairs needs to be installed. And the yard needs to be graded, seeded & strawed. Then the inspector arrives to check for occupancy, and the cleaning crew will clean the whole place top to bottom. So close to moving in!!!

Exterior Lights

It was so awesome to find lights connected and turned on. So much so that we stayed until dark so we could drive up and down the driveway to see the house at night! The house cannot be seen from the road at all with the foliage covering everything, but I was sure we’d see the lights. Nope! The trees are still too thick until fall/winter. If you know where to look, you can get a glimpse from time to time but you have to go quite a ways up the driveway to finally see it. Very cool!
