Fixtures & Painted Doors

Oh my, so much is going on this week! Paint is wrapping up, and the plumber is back putting on fixtures, pressure testing the water lines, and installing toilets. One line needed to be fixed, so drywall guys and paint guys will be back to finish that, but in the meantime, the metal exterior doors got a lovely coat of paint! It’s hard to see them so bright and clean next to the dirty garage door, but we know that will be cleaned soon. We also got a sneak peek at one of the appliances — the dishwasher is unboxed! I’d almost forgotten what it looked like, it’s been so long since we bought it!

Paint

We are finally seeing the finish paint work, and some color on our walls! And finally, the lower section of the back of the house is the final color. This seems like it’s been taking forever, but it’s awesome to see stuff being completed! Doors and trim were painted with a white satin paint, the ceiling is now a flat bright white, and the walls are flat colors. Upstairs is called Artisan Tan, the gray on the main level and basement is called Amazing Gray, and the dark gray in the bathrooms is called Grizzle Gray. Loving what I’m seeing!

Trim Done, Granite Installed

What a week! I love to see this kind of attention on our house! The trim guy finished his work today (well, there is one closet not done, but we think the foreman just might finish it himself), packed up all his stuff, cleaned up and left! The siders were there and finished the railing (about 99% done — 4 or 5 cables need to be installed but they ran out of the connectors), and the last 2 pieces of metal siding have finally been installed! And, to top it all off, the granite countertops were installed today! Oh, how I wish we had lights to see it better — what we did see what awesome!!! Sure brings the whole kitchen together!

Deck Railing, Stairs & Trim

Seems like things have been crawling at the house site, but this week the activity is picking up. The siders showed up this week and have been working on the balcony and deck railing and it’s better than we could have imagined! The trim guy is finishing out closets, putting in stair treads, and hanging shelves. So cool to see these things getting done!

Clementine arrived!

Oh my darling, Clementine, where have you been all these years? It was a great day to sit on the property and watch the delivery truck bring her to us! All the attachments, too! We now have a front end loader, a bush hog, a land plane, a grapple, a blade, and a quick disconnect for the back attachments. We put her right to use, picking up and spreading the gravel on the driveway, and smoothing a new load that Darren spread with the dump truck. This new tractor is going to get a lot of use, and will be very helpful!

Siding Completed & Trim Started

There were a lot of cars and vans going up the driveway today — the siding crew finally completed all of the siding, from the metal to the stone to the shiplap on the porch and the lap siding on the basement level! The trim crew put in some doors, and laid out trim boards to put in later. The electricians were on site, too, putting in outlets and switches in the basement. Someone even put the LV tile in the bathrooms! Really nice to see some stuff getting done!

Cabinets & Shower

Work has been slow on the house, but I finally have a few things to show off. The master bathroom shower is completed — all except the glass wall above the half wall. And the kitchen cabinets have been installed, and most of the doors are on. They even installed some of the wood slats from the front porch accent wall to create a very cool rustic look inside. Oh, and the AC is installed and running and the temperature inside is very comfortable!

Odds & Ends

The work has been off and on — materials come in, workers arrive to do the work, then the house sits and waits. Being so close makes it so much harder to see nothing going on. However, we do see a few upcoming projects that will make it feel much more like home! Kitchen cabinets are in, the master bathroom tile is almost done and ready for grout, the tile flooring in the kitchen and garage entryway area is installed, and the trim around the front door and balcony door is in. Boards for the rest of the trim, as well as stair treads and handrails, arrived last week, and last night we found the finish boards for the balcony, porch and deck. The siders have just the upper portion of the back of the house to finish in the metal siding, then all that remains to be done for siding is the basement patio area, and the porch accent wall. Still need electric work done, plumbing done, paint. So much to do!

Tile & Moving Day

Yesterday was moving day, but unfortunately not into our new house. We sold our other house quickly, though, and the new owners wanted in just as fast so we are now in the camper waiting for this house to be completed! Luckily for us (maybe not the builder) we are less than a mile from the house site now! Amidst all the moving the past few days, we took a quick trip up the hill to see what progress had been made — and found all the wood flooring is done, the metal siding crew is continuing their way around the outside of the house, and the tile work in the master bathroom has begun. Very cool!

Wood Flooring!

Yesterday, we saw that someone had started on the flooring; today, it’s almost complete on all 3 levels! Well, at least the wood part of it. The rest of the master bedroom needs to be finished and then that is done. What is left is the tile — kitchen, bathrooms, and the garage entry area. When we saw it yesterday, it was completely covered. The master bedroom isn’t complete, though, so it was left uncovered and wow!!! It’s exactly what we had hoped for!!! Also, we closed on our current house today, so we had to celebrate!
